WORLD RENOWNED ARTIST DOMINIC PANGBORN TO CHAIR CAPUCHINS’ 2013 SOCK EVENT

International artist and Michigan resident, Dominic Pangborn, will be the chairperson for the Capuchins’ annual SOCK (Support Our Capuchin Kitchen) dinner that will take place Friday, October 11 at the Detroit Marriott Hotel, Renaissance Center.

Mr. Pangborn is a fervent believer in giving back to one’s community.  He will be bringing a new dimension to the SOCK event, now marking its 41st year.  As a Korean adoptee brought to America, he reflects on the opportunities presented to him and in turn gives passionately of his time, talent and heart.

“I am a truly blessed person,” Mr. Pangborn explains.  “I was born with nothing. I learned to do with what I had, and yet at each turning point of my life, someone was there to guide, mentor or inspire me to go forward. It is from these experiences I have learned to give back to the community. It's an honor to be part of SOCK and the Capuchin mission and ministries.”

"My art is healing.  It's all part of me,” he continues.  “I travel the world, meet new faces and I hear, ‘Your art touches me…Your art brings a smile each time I look at it’…and so forth.  We are all given a blank canvass.  It's our job to paint our own world.  It's only paint.  If you don't like it, paint it over. Life is lot like that.”

Mr. Pangborn’s multi-dimensional career spans graphic design, fashion design, home decor as well as fine art.
