GROSSE POINTE FARMS – In a world of modern, involved, caring parents, why are so many kids aggressive and cruel?
Po Bronson, this year’s Grosse Pointe Academy McMillan Lecturer, will discuss how modern society’s strategies for nurturing children are in fact backfiring.
Delving into his best-selling book "NurtureShock: New Thinking About Children," he will reveal that when it comes to children, we’ve mistaken good intentions for good ideas. Bronson brings his research to life with wit, first-hand experience, and a journalistic appetite for the truth, covering a variety of parenting techniques and topics and addressing all stages of childhood, from toddlers to teens.
The lecture is free to the public and will be held on Thursday, November 8 at 7 p.m. in the Tracy Fieldhouse, 171 Lake Shore Road in Grosse Pointe Farms.
There will be a question-and-answer session and a book signing following the presentation. Refreshments will be served. For more information, please call 313-886-1221.
