It was a cold and rainy night as the Grosse Pointe North Norsemen took on the St. Clair Saints in their annual homecoming game on Friday.
Fans and students escorted the class floats in a parade to North's stadium prior to the varsity football game. Senior players and cheerleaders were recognized on the field for Senior Night and this year's Homecoming Court and Queen were announced during the half time show.
The Saints put the first points of the game on the board with 4:46 left in the first quarter. Their bid for a 2-point conversion was unsuccessful and the Saints led 6-0.
They scored again early in the second quarter and this time their 2-point conversion was good and the score was 14-0 Saints.
The Norseman rallied a few minutes later and put their first and last points on the board with a touchdown and extra point--the score 14-7 Saints.
The Saints scored another touchdown in the second quarter and when the halftime show begain, the Saints led 20-7.
The second half was a slug fest on the slippery turf but the Saints managed to put nine more points on the board for the game's final score of 29-7 Saints.
Grosse Pointe North's season record is 5-4.
